1. BRIDGE OF GENERATIONS.  In this project, youth and grandparents work together on computers to share their skills as well as life experiences. Participants in East Jerusalem are inviting schools in other countries to join the project. http://media.iearn.org/projects/iearn-generations

 

2. CALLIGRAPHY PROJECT.  A project giving students the opportunity to discover and engage in reviving the ancient art of Calligraphy by producing, sharing and appreciating this art form.  Join participants from Pakistan who are currently posting their work. http://media.iearn.org/projects/calligraphy

 

3. 4. INTERESTED IN HELPING TO START A CHILDREN'S RIGHTS PROJECT IN iEARN?  UNICEF staff have come to iEARN to do a project involving children's rights. Students will help to identify what they believe are the key rights of children while also exploring the rights defined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child.  This project is designed to provide youth an introduction to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child – the focus of the 2010 State of the World’s Children report. They are willing to be project resource people for an iEARN project, if there are teachers who are interested in working/facilitating the project. One of the UNICEF resource people is Cristina Gallegos who was a speaker at the Morocco Conference.  Does it fit with an existing project? 5. STUDENTS COMMIT TO REDUCE CO2 OUTPUT.  Through the (OF)2 - Our Footprints, Our Future project (http://media.iearn.org/projects/of2), over 11,000 students have now committed to changing their lifestyle and thereby reduce their CO2 output by over 7,000 tonnes!    Join in the collective goal to reduce by 35,000 tonnes by completing the YouthCalculator at http://of2.iearn.org/youthcalculator.html

6. COLLABORATION CENTRE TIP.  Have you updated your profile lately in the iEARN Collaboration Centre?  Added a photo?  After you log-into the Collaboration Center (http://media.iearn.org), you can click on "Manage Account" at the upper right corner.  On your profile page, you can upload a photo, change contact information, give students their own User Names and Passwords, add more teachers from your school, place yourself on the iEARN Google Map, etc.  

 

7. YES EXCHANGE AND STUDY PROGRAM ALUMNUS FROM PAKISTAN HAS GUEST BLOG FEATURED IN NEW YORK TIMES.   Sher Bano is a 17-year-old Pashtun girl who is part of iEARN-Pakistan and who spent last year as an exchange student in Evanston, Illinois, USA as part of the Youth Exchange and Student Program (YES) funded by the U.S. Department of State.  Read her recent report at http://kristof.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/02/18/report-from-a-pashtun-teen/

RECENT WORKSHOPS

 

13. iEARN-RUSSIA AND iEARN-BELARUS HOST JOINT ADOBE YOUTH VOICES WORKSHOP.  On January, 28th, 2010, a workshop took place in the Moscow Center of Education № 1471. Many years ago (in 1988), the Moscow school 1471, which is the founder of the center, was at the beginnings of the creation of iEARN. The recent meeting became possible through the joint efforts of Sofia Savelava, expert of iEARN-Belarus network, Olga Prohorenko, co-coordinator of iEARN-Russia and Svetlana Yakubovskaya, AYV-Belarus consultant and online course trainer, all of whom are actively working within Adobe Youth Voices project in their countries.  For more, see http://tinyurl.com/russiaayvworkshop
